Beth M. Howard bakes lots of pies, teaches pie-baking classes, and recently wrote a book ? ?Making Piece: A Memoir of Love, Loss and Pie? ? that ?creates the perfect synergy between two of America?s greatest icons?pie and the American Gothic House, the little farmhouse immortalized in Grant Wood?s famous painting, where she now lives and runs the Pitchfork Pie Stand.?As a result, when she posts an ?ALDI Alert? on her Facebook page about a sale on baking and pastry utensils, we pay attention.
This morning, I visited the ALDI store on Watts Road and checked out the sturdy silicone and solid beechwood spatulas ($1.99 in a variety of sizes); and cookie dough scoops, stainless steel pastry blenders, pastry scrapers, and dough cutters ($3.99). If you need some of these baking tools and live near an ALDI store, you may want to pay a visit. There are additional metal bakeware items on sale ($2.99) and a Crofton Stan Mixer with stainless steel bowl on sale for $29.99.
The clerk I talked to said that the sale lasts as long as items are available. Visit the ALDI website to locate a store near you and to see an online version of their current sale flyer.
